Lifting one's gaze to the
summits is an ageless metaphor to signify individual spiritual aspiration
to omniscience. To even think of occupying the loftiest vantage points already
expresses the desire to see all and understand all. Therefore, to some the
high peaks represent the abode of wisdom. These Higher Worlds beckon to the
earth-weary sojourner promising the lure of release from all quandary. Little
wonder, then, so many who do raise their glance to view the great heights
also smile knowingly, as if toward home.
